Welcome to Wood Badge 2146

From our Course Director Larry Campbell

Course Dates

1st Weekend

September 11th-13th, 2026

2nd Weekend

September 26th-27th, 2026

I am extremely excited for you to meet the staff we have assembled and welcome you to Camp George Thomas for what will likely be one of the highlights of your Scouting experience.  The staff began preparing for your course in February and you are going to enjoy learning and growing with this fine group of experienced Scouters. The first weekend, your time will be filled with instruction in various leadership and team skills and staff members will prepare all meals.  The second weekend, you will camp and cook as a patrol using the principles of Leave No Trace.

During the Wood Badge course, please wear the complete official Scouting America uniform (including Scouting America uniform pants/shorts) of your position in Scouting.  If you serve in more than one capacity (as both an assistant Scoutmaster and a Cubmaster, for example), wear the uniform representing the position in which you are most active.

Finally, thank you for all you do for the youth in Scouting.

Time commitment note:
The course starts on the first weekend at 5 pm Thursday and goes unto 5:30 pm on Sunday. On the second weekend the course begins at 5 pm on Friday and goes until 5:30 pm on Sunday. The participant must complete all 5 days to complete the course.

What is Wood Badge?

Wood Badge is leadership training for all Scout leaders including Cub Scouters, Scouters, Varsity Scouters and Venturing Advisers along with all levels or Scouting America professional staff. This course draws on the leadership skills developed by the Scouting America as well as on current leadership and team development models used by corporate America. As a participant in this course, you will learn and develop leadership skills that will enhance your ability to “Deliver the Promise” of Scouting to your youth membership.

I join the rest of the WB-2146 staff in welcoming you to the upcoming course.  It will be a “mountaintop experience” for all of us and I’m excited to see the impact we have on Scouting youth in our council.
